Sidearm [:sahyd-ahrm]
One of the two basic throws in Ultimate Frisbee. The inside version is very effective to break ones mark. Practice this one hard!
Thumber [:thuhm-ber]
Probably the hardest throw. Particularly the inside. Freespeed brought this throw from the beach onto the field. Watch out for this one!
Knife [:nahyf]
Effective fast throw to play over opponents. Is harder to catch though and can get caught by the wind easily.
Overhead [:oh-ver-hed]
Also known as "Hammer". Looks great and is a popular throw on the fields in Europe. Watch out for the wind or play the harder inside version!
Scoober [:skoo-ber]
Is an advanced throw that travels in a path similar to the overhead. Can be an effective short throw and is used for breaking the mark and against zone defenses.
Shoulder Backhand [:shohl-der bak-hand]
The high release version of the backhand is used to get around an person. Powered more by the flick of the wrist.
Upside [:uhp-sahyd]
A disc thrown upside-down has a very different flight path than one thrown right-side up. This throw tends to bank or roll as it flys. Harder to catch!
Backhand [:bak-hand]
This is probably the most commonly learned throw, and also one of the most powerful. There is a long windup for the throw, both in terms of path length and time. Go for this one!
Backhand Inside [:bak-hand in-sahyd]
Strong pass for breaking the mark. By putting downward pressure on the trailing edge of the disc as it is released, this throw will "bounce" up into the air.
